CEREC® One Visit Restorations

Occasionally, a tooth will experience significant enough damage that its roots will become threatened, and a restorative porcelain crown will often be recommended to provide additional support. These crowns can be both functional and cosmetic, as they offer an aesthetically appealing solution to dental decay while protecting the bite surface.

While there are a multitude of benefits, one common drawback of receiving a restorative crown can be the need for a temporary fixture while the permanent attachment is created in a lab. At Dr. Arun Narang & Associates, however, you can receive a custom-made porcelain crown in just a single office visit with the innovative CEREC® technology.

Our CEREC® One-Visit crowns are developed with the aid of CAD-CAM technology, which stands for computer-assisted design and computer-assisted manufacturing. This revolutionary method can produce a porcelain crown customized to precisely fit your affected tooth during the same office visit as your preparation. As a result, you should not have to return for a secondary appointment, which is typically necessary with lab-generated crowns. In addition to crowns, CEREC® can manufacture a wide variety of high-quality ceramic restorations, including fillings (both inlays and onlays) and porcelain veneers.

CEREC® Fillings / Inlays and Onlays

Not all types of dental decay are significant enough to warrant a crown, and porcelain fillings offer an excellent restoration method while maintaining the aesthetic appearance of your tooth. In fact, many patients prefer to have their still-functional metal fillings replaced with porcelain, as this material is more durable and offers enhanced cosmetic appeal. As with the CEREC® crowns, fillings and inlays/onlays can often be tailored to the best possible fit and appearance for your tooth without you having to return for a second visit.

CEREC Crowns FAQs

What are CEREC porcelain crowns?
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) crowns are customized porcelain restorations that fit your teeth precisely. We use CAD-CAM technology to create them in one visit, eliminating the need for temporary crowns.
How does the CEREC process work?
Your dentist will take a 3D scan of your tooth and that is used to design the crown on a computer. The design is sent to a milling machine that makes the crown from one porcelain block. The crown is then bonded to the tooth.
What are the benefits of CEREC crowns?
CEREC crowns offer benefits like limiting dental visits to a single-visit. They are durable, look natural and come with less risk of allergic reactions.
Are CEREC crowns suitable for everyone?
CEREC crowns aren’t suitable for everyone. Eligibility depends on the amount of tooth damage, its location, and overall health.
How long do CEREC crowns last?
CEREC can last for years as long as you maintain them with good hygiene and going to the dentist regularly.
Do CEREC crowns require special care?
Caring for CEREC crowns is similar to caring for natural teeth and includes brushing twice a day, flossing once a day, and avoiding hard foods or objects, like ice.
Are CEREC crowns covered by insurance?
Insurance coverage for CEREC crowns varies and depends on your plan. Smile by Design Dental can assist in verifying your benefits and maximizing your coverage.
How can I schedule a consultation for CEREC crowns?
Contact Smile by Design Dental to schedule a consultation. You can do that by calling or scheduling an appointment online.
