What teeth whitening treatment options do you offer?
We offer both Zoom® in-office whitening, which can brighten your teeth in as little as 20 minutes to one hour. Smile by Design has home whitening kits for those who want to try it at home
What causes tooth staining and discoloration?
The most common things that stain teeth are coffee, tea, red white, berries, and smoking.
How do professional and at-home whitening options compare to “natural” methods?
Over-the-counter toothpastes and strips contain much weaker bleaching agents. They will show minimal results over time. Natural DIY methods can be too abrasive and have no evidence of being effective. The most effective and safest way to whiten teeth is with professional whitening.
How does the Zoom® whitening system work?
Zoom® uses a light-activated hydrogen peroxide gel applied for 15 minutes in three sessions that take around 45 minutes. Afterwards, a fluoride gel is applied to reduce sensitivity.
Is whitening safe for dental restorations like crowns or fillings?
No, unfortunately whitening works only on natural teeth. We can recommend alternatives or additional treatments for those with crowns or fillings to achieve your desired appearance.
How is tooth sensitivity managed during or after whitening?
We protect gums using shields. Our gel is set to reduce tooth sensitivity.
How long will whitening results last?
Results generally last around six months but that depends on your diet and oral care. Some don’t need another whitening session for two or three years. Occasional touch-up treatments help maintain brightness year-round.
What is your “Whitening for Life” program and how much does it cost?
A one-time fee of $100 will get you customized upper and lower whitening trays and provide a syringe of whitening gel at two hygiene appointments per year.
