How should I prepare for sedation?
The basic preparation for sedation relates to food. You can eat if you are going to have nitrous oxide but keep it light. Those on oral sedation will need to fast for a couple of hours before taking it.
Will I be asleep during the procedure?
Sedation puts you in a state of conscious twilight sleep. You can answer questions but are awake. You may doze off with certain types of sedation.
How long do the effects of sedation last?
The duration of sedation effects depends on the method used. Nitrous oxide wears off quickly once removed from the gas. You will feel drowsy for a few hours after oral sedation. Those using sedation will need someone to drive them home.
